New York Family Medical Leave Act Attorneys
There is a federal law called the Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”) which covers some New York workers as well as the workers of other states such as New Jersey. The FMLA allows an employee to take off up to twelve(12) weeks. The FMLA allows intermittent leave periodically for say chemotherapy treatments or for a leave of absence.
Note that the FMLA does not require that the time off be paid time off. In addition, if the employee returns to the job in less than twelve(12) weeks, the employee must be returned to his/her same or an equivalent job.
